Categories
Ministra files everything under a category, and vodmatic works out which one from your folders.
If a library folder's layout has a {genre} level, that folder name is the category. Drama/Vikings/Season 01/... puts Vikings in Drama. Where there is no genre level, the default category for films or for series is used, and both are set under Settings.
The mapping screen
Categories lists every folder name vodmatic has seen and the portal category it maps to. Where a folder name does not exactly match a category in Ministra, you tell it which one to use, once, and it remembers.
The list is learned from your library, not from writing — so you can set all of it up before a single entry is created.
Moving things afterwards
Entries already in the portal can be moved to a different category from the same screen. You see the whole plan — what moves, from where, to where — before anything happens, and the whole batch can be undone afterwards.
By default it offers only entries vodmatic itself created. You can include what was in the portal before vodmatic, if you want to tidy those too.
Duplicates
Duplicates finds the same programme sitting in your catalogue more than once — the same film twice, a season with two copies of episode 4, the same series under two slightly different names.
It shows you the path of each copy and leaves the decision to you. vodmatic never deletes a duplicate. It tells you which file each one is, so you can remove whichever you do not want, from your own media server, yourself.
Most duplicates come from one of three things: the same film in two library folders, a re-encode added beside the original, or a title spelled two ways so they were never recognised as the same programme.
Statistics
Statistics shows what has actually been written and when: films, series, seasons, episodes, files and subtitles, over time.
- A chart by day or by hour.
- Fixed periods — today, this week, this month.
- A period you choose, from any date and time to any other. If the window reaches back further than the activity log keeps, it says so, so a small number is never mistaken for a quiet fortnight.
- The titles that gained the most files recently.
The activity log is pruned after a number of days you set under Settings, so the numbers see back that far and no further.
