Vodmatic Admin is an Android app for keeping an eye on your instances from your phone. It is not for your IPTV subscribers — it is for whoever runs the instance.
What it is for
Everything on it can be done in the web panel. What the app adds is that you find out. It checks your instances in the background and tells you when something has stopped or is waiting for you, so a season holding back a whole series does not sit unanswered for a week because nobody happened to open a browser.
What it does
Shows: the status of each instance, the activity log with the actual SQL, the queue and what failed, your library folders, statistics, licence status, and everything waiting for a decision.
Does: starts a scan, tests a storage connection, retries a failed job or all of them, corrects a file that could not be read, releases a season that is held back, rechecks the licence, and turns dry run on and off.
Does not: anything that rewrites your catalogue. Repointing files, unpublishing programmes and moving categories stay in the web panel on purpose — those need the whole plan on screen before you say yes, and a phone in a pocket is the worst place to confirm one by accident. The app shows you all of it and links to the panel.
Adding an instance
- Open the app and tap Add instance.
- Enter your instance address, for example
yourid.vodmatic.livlost.net. It checks there is a vodmatic on the other end before asking for anything else. - Sign in with the same username and password you use for the panel.
- Optionally give it a nickname. With one instance you will not want to; with six you will.
You can add as many instances as you run and switch between them from the bar at the top of any screen.
Signing in, and signing out
The app trades your password once for a token bound to that one device. Your password is not stored on the phone.
Under More › Instances you can see every device signed in as you, and sign any of them out. If you lose a phone, revoke it from another device and that token stops working immediately. A token unused for 90 days expires on its own.
Background checks and notifications
Under Settings in the app you choose whether it checks in the background and how often. It notifies for red and amber only — never for grey. Dry run being on is a choice you made, and waking you at night about it is how notifications get switched off.
Roles
A viewer account can read every screen and change nothing; the buttons are there but refuse, and say why. If you want somebody watching without the power to act, give them a viewer account.
Requirements
Android 8.0 or newer. The app talks to your instance over HTTPS only. Your instance needs core 2.79.0 or newer — if it is older, the app will say so rather than failing obscurely.
