vodmatic guesses when it is confident and asks when it is not. Everything it will not guess about lands on Needs attention. Nothing behind an unanswered question moves, so this screen is usually the highest-value ten minutes you can spend on your instance.
Two kinds of thing appear here: files it could not read, and seasons it will not add as they stand.
Files it could not read
Each card shows the path, what vodmatic worked out, its confidence, and why it is unsure. Two answers:
Correct
Tell it what the file is. The form is pre-filled with its best guess, so most of the time you are changing one field.
- Kind — film, episode or subtitle.
- Title — the programme name as it should appear.
- Year — for films, and it matters: it is what separates a remake from the original.
- Season and episode — required for an episode. Also fill these in for a subtitle that belongs to an episode — they are the only thing that says which episode it goes with. Leave them blank for a subtitle belonging to a film.
Saving queues the file immediately. From then on it is a human decision and nothing re-reads it — a later scan will not undo your answer.
Set aside
For anything that is not media, or that you simply do not want. The file is marked and never offered again.
Set aside is not delete. Nothing is removed from your media server and nothing is removed from vodmatic. Everything you set aside is listed under Set aside, where you can put any of it back on the list.
Seasons
See Seasons held back, and series that start late. In short: a season with holes in it, or a series whose library does not begin at season 1, waits for you to say what to do. One answer releases every episode behind it — and their subtitles.
Getting told about it
Under Settings, each account can give an email address and ask to be told when something is waiting. You get one message with a count and a link, not one per file, and not again until the list has emptied and filled up once more. Filenames are never included — email is not a secure channel.
The order to work through it
- Seasons first. One tap can release sixty episodes.
- Then whole series of files that are wrong the same way — if you are about to correct the same thing five times, an override under Settings will do all of them at once.
- Then the rest, or set them aside if they are not media.
