A television has no easy way to browse for a file, so the usual approach is a small helper app that downloads the APK for you. Any of these three work; pick whichever suits the device you have.
With the Downloader app (most common)
- Install Downloader from the Play Store or the Amazon Appstore on the television.
- Open it, type the download address you were given into the address box, and press Go.
- When the download finishes, choose Install. If the television refuses, it will offer to open the security settings — allow Downloader to install apps, then go back and try again.
From a USB stick
- Copy the APK onto a USB stick from a computer, and plug it into the television.
- Open the device's file manager, find the file and open it.
- Allow the file manager to install apps if asked.
From your phone
Apps such as Send files to TV exist on both the phone and the television and hand the file across your home network. Install it on both, send the APK from the phone, and open it on the television.
On a remote control, everything in Stream Player is reachable with the direction pad and OK. There is no need for a mouse or an air remote.
