Booking a recording of a programme later today Print

Open the guide, move forward to the programme you want, and press Record. The booking is kept on the device and set on the system clock, so it fires whether or not the app is open, and it survives the device restarting.

Settings → Scheduled recordings lists everything booked, and what happened to the ones that have already run.

Two things worth knowing

  • This is the one thing in the app that opens a connection of its own. A programme at three in the morning has no picture to tap into, so the app connects on its own. On a subscription that allows a single stream, you cannot watch while a booked recording is running. That is a property of the subscription, not of the app, and you are told when you book one.
  • Allowed connection, in the same screen, decides what a booking may use: Wi-Fi only (the default), Wi-Fi or mobile, or anything. An hour of television over mobile data is an expensive surprise, so a booking that comes due on a connection you did not allow is skipped and says so.

Keep the device switched on and connected at the time. A device that is off cannot record.
